Site Master Plan

Harbor Road Terminal

Originally consisting of 422 acres, Owensboro Riverport has been instrumental in developing river-oriented industry for Owensboro and the regional economy. At present, approximately 150 acres is utilized for the port's public river terminal and warehousing operations. Nearly 130 acres can be developed for future ventures and/or development.

The Harbor Road Terminal site offers excellent intermodal transportation connections. Over 6,300 feet of river frontage, eight pile cells, and six mooring dolphins are for barge slip purposes. A 5,700 linear foot rail loop can handle 84 railcars (65’ length) and locomotive power while adjoining acreage can provide adequate space for construction and future growth. Over 600,000 square feet of on-site and off-site indoor warehouse space is owned and/or operated by the port. Outside storage yards total 75 acres and includes a combination of compacted limestone rock, concrete, and asphalt improvements. Bulk storage is provided via multi-dome capacity totaling 14,200 tons. The facility has a 15,000 bushel-per-hour grain loading pit/conveyor with 90,000 bushel storage capacity. An optional 2,000 bushel-per-hour grain dryer is available. In addition, a 200' diameter concrete storage pod has the capacity to store 650,000 bushels of grain or other commodities.

Coleman Terminal

Purchased in April 2005, the Whaylon D. Coleman Terminal site is comprised of 92 acres on the east side of Owensboro. The former location of the Green River Steel mill facility has been revitalized and is prepared for industrial development. The site offers a 350,000 square foot structure, nearly 10,700 linear feet of rail line, and approximately 2,100 feet of river frontage. The property site is adjacent to U.S. Highway 60 and U.S. Highway 231 offering four-lane access to the Natcher Bridge crossing the Ohio River northbound to Interstate 64 in southern Indiana.

Currently, an industrial prospect has an option to purchase the property.
